Strawberry Lavender Martini
COCKTAIL — I love this martini, not just because it’s a vodka martini (yes!), but the natural sweetness of strawberries matched with the delicate, floral notes of lavender is delightful. This martini offers simple and fun flavors that aim to please. If you’re like me, I tend to really enjoy sweet martinis and this one offers a little more complexity along with its sweetness.
This drink offers the fruitiness layered on top of the herbaceous lavender flavor. It includes store-bought lavender syrup paired with homemade strawberry syrup. I do love a nice and fresh homemade syrup, however store bought syrups are not necessarily to be avoided. Sometimes, store bought syrups can add a little boost of flavor for a cocktail, but I would try to use them in moderation. Combining them with syrups made with fresh ingredients can lead to a more unique drink. I love the strawberry syrup that I use for this recipe. It’s not only great for cocktails, but perfect for a yogurt plus some little strawberry number or even on top of your rolled oats and granola in the morning.
Ingredients
3 oz strawberry syrup
2.5 oz vodka (I used Ketel One)
1 oz simple syrup

How to make strawberry syrup
Using a box of fresh strawberries, cut off tops and squish with a side of a knife or wooden spoon.
Add strawberries to 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sweetner (sugar, agave, or honey).
Bring to a boil. Cook for 5-6 minutes.
Put in a blender and blend on pulse 1-2 times.
Place in colaider and using a wooden spoon, move strawberry pulp to drain strawberry juices into a container.
Let strawberry syrup cool. Pour into an air-tight container and keep in refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
